Is it difficult for your students to stay focused and avoid distractions? Do they struggle with managing their emotions or effectively planning how to complete a task? Self-regulation instruction and practice can help students learn to break down tasks, minimize emotional reactions to challenges, and improve their ability to sustain attention. By learning and practicing self-regulation, students improve their academic success and advance their success in postsecondary endeavors. The College & Career Competencies Project, in partnership with ADE, supports educators in developing self-regulation in their students. In this session, participants will learn research-based Self-Regulation Strategies and practice using the Self-Regulation Performance-Based Observation, a tool for monitoring students’ growth in self-regulation. By attending this session, participants will gain access to free resources to support their self-regulation instruction, like student videos, instructional activities, assessments, individual student supports resources, and family engagement materials.
