Jennifer May is a Small Business Operations instructor at Metro Tech High School in Phoenix. She just completed her 8th year teaching CTE in the Phoenix Union HS District. Her CTE class includes a fully operational flower shop that is open to the public and run by her students. Jennifer teaches her students how to operate the business while also teaching them the art of Floral Design. Prior to becoming a teacher in 2016, Jennifer May was a business owner of an award-winning wedding & event floral boutique for over 15 years. She has been in the floral industry for over 28 years and has served as the Vice President of the Arizona Florists Association (AFSA) 2010-2014, as well as a board member for the Phoenix Art Museum’s Arts & Flowers program during the same time period. Jennifer is a mother of three grown daughters, the wife of a law enforcement officer, and an animal lover. She spends all her free time with her family, enjoys thrift shopping (treasure hunting), and working in her garden.

In this session you will learn how one teacher makes thousands of dollars per year for her CTE program, as well as provides a state recognized certification (iCEV Online), and also grabs nontraditional students to take her class. This session will educate, inspire, and inform any educator! Learn tips and tricks to help you successfully incorporate an online certification program into your classroom, get more students to sign up for your classes, and how you too can successfully run an SBE (Student Based Enterprise).
