Assistant Professor of Cyber Operations
Dr. Rob Honomichl is an advocate for computer science and cybersecurity education and is currently an Assistant Professor of Cyber Operations at the University of Arizona. Honomichl has over 20 years of teaching in secondary and higher education. Honomichl's teaching career began as a high school computer teacher in South Dakota before taking on the roles of district technology director and Assistant Professor at Dakota State University. Dr. Honomichl has been heavily involved in cybersecurity education and teacher professional development. He directed the nation's largest residential GenCyber Teacher Camps for six years. Honomichl has been an instructor at 17 GenCyber student camps, developed educational standards, spearheaded teacher professional development initiatives, and collaborated with technology CTE programs. He led three CyberNet Academies and was a recruiter, mentor, and instructor for the Cybersecurity High School Innovations grant over two years, collaborating with CAE schools and teachers from seven states. Dr. Honomichl holds a B.S. in Computer Education from Dakota State University, an M.S. in Educational Technology from Dakota State University, and a Ph.D. in Technology Innovation Management with a Cybersecurity specialization from Northcentral University. His dissertation explored the implications of problematic information on the social media behaviors of adolescents. Dr. Honomichl has served as a board member of the Madison Central School District and the Associated School Boards of South Dakota. His research interests include cybersecurity education, human factors of cybersecurity, and social engineering.
