CTE Culinary Instructor; Title I Coordinator

Deborah Abley is a 29 year veteran CTE teacher from Phoenix AZ currently teaches Culinary 2 and 3 in a Title I school. Her passion for equity and inclusion for the diverse population that her high school serves has developed over the last two decades. She spends professional and personal time training and reading in memoir, life writing and human history. She is passionate about education and is always looking for new ways to reach her students where they are. She continues to strive to be a better version of herself and inspire her to support her students to be the best version of themselves.

The number of students and colleagues who are under the neurodiversity umbrella is growing. Not all students are diagnosed or have IEP support. As CTE educators, we can learn more about how neurodiverse brains process information and environment and how we can support them to be successful in our classes and workplaces. Learn what neurodiversity includes and what basic changes can be made to increase students' learning and belonging in CTE classrooms and school environments.
