Michaela is a dedicated public health professional with expertise in community engagement, youth education, and behavioral health interventions. With a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a minor in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam, she has cultivated a career centered on empowering individuals and communities through education, outreach, and advocacy. As a Community Engagement Manager at BestLife Leadership Development, Michaela promotes Arizona’s premier youth leadership program through social media management and cultivating community partnerships. Her experience as a Member Support Executive at Girl Scouts – Arizona Cactus-Pine Council strengthened her skills in volunteer recruitment, relationship-building, and event coordination. Through her role as a CAPP Health Educator at ACR Health, she contributed to decreasing STI and teen pregnancy rates by facilitating comprehensive and inclusive sex education programs. Additionally, her work as a Care Coordinator at Vera House allowed her to implement trauma-informed practices in crisis intervention and victim support. Her passion for global health and working in cross-cultural environments grew through volunteering in Kathmandu, Nepal where she facilitated educational and behavioral health interventions for children with HIV/AIDS. Michaela remains committed to advocating for underserved communities and believes in the power of collaboration and education to drive meaningful change. “Respect, Protect, Empower: Guiding Youth Toward Healthy & Safe Relationships" is designed to equip educators with the essential tools to support young people in building and maintaining healthy, respectful relationships. This session explores how to help youth foster trust, open communication, and mutual understanding in all types of relationships. Through interactive discussions and engaging strategies, educators will gain the confidence to lead youth in learning about consent, setting healthy boundaries, recognizing signs of unhealthy behavior, and advocating for themselves.
