Lauri Dreher is the Associate Dean of the School of Business at Yavapai College, where she provides leadership for business programs, faculty, and strategic initiatives, including the development of Arizona’s first 4-year business degree at a rural community college. Lauri grew up in Colorado and earned her Bachelor’s in Finance from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s in International Management from the University of Denver. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership at Liberty University, with anticipated completion in June 2025. Previously, Lauri served as the Marketing Director for a nonprofit international trade association, advocating for the marketing needs of member companies. She has also designed and delivered customized training solutions to businesses throughout Yavapai County. With a passion for entrepreneurship, Lauri owned and operated a successful restaurant in a small Colorado mountain town. She also played a key role in shaping Arizona’s career and technical education landscape, building and establishing Prescott High School’s Business Management and Accounting Programs of Study, which were consistently ranked among the state’s top programs.

This session, designed primarily for community college administrators but open to all who want to know more, will be a behind the scenes look at the process involved in starting a new baccalaureate degree program, from community/advisory committee input, feasibility study, curriculum development, internal approvals (curriculum committees, governing boards) and then on to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and ADE approval. This presentation will also cover elements of change management necessary for HLC approval and a successful launch.
