John Sugameli taught high school welding and construction for 10.5 years at Alchesay and Marana High School. John was Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach for 10 years at Ironwood Ridge High School. John grew up in Tucson, AZ, and graduated from U of A in Winter of 2005, and worked as a mason tender for Sun Valley Masonry (SVM) while in school. He was offered a job as a Project Manager with SVM in 2016 and took the position, then was promoted to Field Operations Manager in 2017, where he's been running the show ever since. John graduated as a Journeyman Mason in 2018 and started teaching for the AMCA/AMC in 2019. He is now lead instructor for the Southern AZ Apprenticeship through the AMC and PCC. As a high school teacher, the Train the Trainer event was one of John’s favorite professional development days, as was the July Teacher Training.

This session is off site and participants must provide their own transportation. Participants will need to provide the following required tools: a trowel, 2 foot and 4 foot levels, tape measure, jointer, and brush. Participants will choose from beginner, intermediate or advanced masonry projects and build the selected project in the time allowed. Journeyman masons will be present to provide training and teaching tips. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, pants, sun protection, and come ready to learn about masonry. (ADE Sponsored)
