Lown, Ashley
Certification Chairman - Animal Decontamination Certification
Ashley Lown serves as Certification Chairman for the Animal Decontamination Certification (ADC) through the Institute of Security Preparedness, where she leads the development, implementation, and expansion of an Arizona Department of Education A–F approved credential supporting Law & Public Safety, Veterinary Science, and Agriculture pathways. Ashley works at the intersection of emergency response, biosecurity, animal welfare, and career education, designing certification systems that translate real-world responder protocols into accessible, standards-aligned CTE instruction. Under her leadership, the ADC program has launched across multiple Joint Technical Education Districts and, by the time of this conference, will have served two CTEDs and approximately 300 students, equipping them with foundational skills in contamination control, PPE use, safety operations, documentation, and cross-agency collaboration. Her work focuses on building high-quality credentialing pathways that strengthen workforce readiness, community safety, and student outcomes while supporting pathway completion and CTSO engagement. Through innovative curriculum design and educator training, Ashley continues to advance career-connected learning at the intersection of public safety and animal sciences.

This session introduces CTE educators to the Animal Decontamination Certification (ADC), an Arizona Department of Education A–F approved credential for Law & Public Safety, Veterinary Science, and Agriculture pathways. Participants will experience a condensed, interactive overview of the certification, including responder safety, contamination zones, PPE selection, animal handling, documentation, and cross-pathway collaboration. The session demonstrates how animal decontamination concepts can be integrated into CTE classrooms to build real-world skills in emergency response, biosecurity, animal welfare, and community safety. Educators will explore curriculum structure, assessment design, and implementation models, and examine how the certification supports pathway completion, CTSO participation, and measurable student outcomes. Presented by a certification provider for informational and professional learning purposes.
