Deborah Abley has been a high school and post secondary educator for over 2 decades and has continued to increase her own education while adding to her own knowledge base. She has taught core classes for 28 years, and FCS CTE classes for the last 13 years. She has led her fellow CTE teachers in her district PLC for the last 5 years. Her desire to adapt to her students and teaching environments has led to continual training and convention attendance. The most recent studies have led to improving the resilience of her students and colleagues as the world of education has attempted to withstand an ever changing landscape. It is a passion that she desires to share so that more faculty and students will feel seen, heard and can achieve more meaningful success in reaching their goals.

In this session, participants will learn about Non-Violent Communication techniques, and how to use them in the classroom, the workroom and the office. Approaching all situations with dignity, lasting relationships are formed, trust is built. Using these new skills, student engagement, resilience and desired outcomes are within reach for teachers, students and administration. Solid relationships allow students to focus on the work and pursue learning in a safe environment. CTE students gain the basis of professional skills that can be cultivated throughout their lifetime.
