Liz has been with Yavapai College for over a decade and prior to her current role, taught classes in electronics, automation, robotics, manufacturing, and engineering.

This session will outline the history of and current state of the partnership between Yavapai College and Freeport-McMoRan, the creation of cohort-based apprenticeship and internship models, and how to satisfy industry requests within academic systems. Other topics will include the challenges and lessons learned (listening to your advisory boards, dealing with corporate liaison changes.) Throughout, the key theme is how to forge relationships and foster belonging in order to successfully guide students through an apprentice or internship program from day one all the way through to graduation.
