Curt Bertelsen is the Director of Professional Development for Pima JTED. He taught Agriscience at Flowing Wells High School for 23 years. He has served as the President of the Association for Career and Technical Education – Arizona. He helped to establish the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium and Premier Series Program. He and his wife Ann live in Tucson, Arizona where they raised three children.

This course will explore the nine Professional Skills identified by the Arizona Department of Education in collaboration with industry. Participants will identify them, use created rubrics to assess their use, explore strategies to embed them across their curriculum, and methods to evaluate students. Upon successful completion of the course (which includes submission of homework, participants will receive an ADE certificate for 15 professional development clock hours which equates to one (1) semester hour of coursework.

This session models the use of a formative assessment strategy called Plickers: a low-tech way to quickly gauge your student learning during a lesson. You will walk away from the session with a set of Plicker cards and the knowledge to use them.
