Patrick is a career educator dedicated to serving his community and country as a Professional Development Specialist for West-MEC and Non-Commissioned Officer in the Arizona Air National Guard. He is passionate about guiding, leading, mentoring, and inspiring individuals and teams who want to learn, grow and take their respective crafts, career, or project to the next level. Patrick graduated from Arizona State University (Go Devils!!!) in 2007 and completed his graduate studies in Educational Technology through Northern Arizona University in 2016. He has served as a middle grades science teacher in the Pendergast Elementary School District and as a Coding Instructor for West-MEC. Patrick is also an independent facilitator of Love and LogicⓇ curricula, a set of tools and techniques that helps adults and teachers achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their students and children. He is also an associate instructor for undergraduate and graduate-level educational technology programs for ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College.

In this course teachers will enhance classroom management skills by developing rules, procedures and routines that are aligned to their content and environment. We will consider the philosophy of "Discipline with Dignity" to ensure that you possess discipline strategies that are highly effective without escalating disruptive student behavior. Participants will leave with a draft syllabus for use in their own classroom. This is an ADE approved Professional Development Event. Upon successful completion of the course which includes submission of homework, participants will receive an ADE certificate for 15 professional development clock hours which equates to one (1) semester hour of coursework.

4632 - Premier Series: Effective Demonstrations

Whether in a welding lab or a bioscience lab, effective demonstrations are crucial. If done correctly every student can successfully perform the new skill with little or no frustration, without wasted materials, and attain proficiency in a way that will ensure the whole class progresses at an appropriate pace. This is a real career extender! When you and the students are successful in the lab, teaching can be very rewarding. An added bonus is that students complete the new skill in a safe environment. Come and learn this four-part demonstration method. Upon successful completion of the course, which includes submission of homework. Participants will receive an ADE certificate for 15 professional development hours.
