John Morgan is the Associate Vice President of Career and Technical Education at Yavapai College. Employed by the college in 1999, he was tasked with developing an urban agriculture program to better meet the changing needs of Yavapai County. John is widely recognized for his knowledge on hydroponic and aquaculture systems, and frequently consults with upstart companies. John oversees the college’s Career and Technical education programs, where he has helped design over 50 programs and three centers at Yavapai College. His workforce areas with YC were recently recognized as the Yavapai County Trainer of the year for their efforts to get people into the workforce quickly and with high skills. He received his bachelors in agricultural education from the University of Arizona in 1989, and a Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Phoenix in 1995. John has won numerous teaching awards including the Sallie Mae National First Year Teacher of the Year in 1989, two-time Arizona Agriculture Teacher of the Year, John Deere Outstanding Young Ag teacher for the United States western region, ACTEAz postsecondary educator of the year, and most recently the NAAE outstanding postsecondary agriculture program in the western U.S.
