Jan Brite serves as the Grants Specialist for the Homeless Education Program in the Office of Homeless, Foster Care, and Refugee Education Programs at the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). Jan was born and raised in Kentucky and has served as a tutor/counselor, classroom teacher, building administrator, career coach, career and technical education program specialist and career pathways director in Kentucky, Idaho, Virginia and Arizona. Jan earned a B.S. in Secondary Education from Eastern Kentucky University with graduate studies from Old Dominion University, Idaho State University and Colorado State. Jan retired from the Arizona Department of Education after serving 22 years in various positions in Career and Technical Education promoting and building strong career education programs for Arizona students. Jan returned to service to help promote educational opportunities and remove barriers for students who are experiencing homelessness.

Learn how to identify McKinney Vento students, address barriers to attendance and success, and access resources to support these vulnerable students. Discover appropriate measures to take when aware of a student in need and how to obtain necessary support services.
