Joel Wakefield has his Master's in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. He has served in public education for over 30 years as a teacher, instructional coach, and principal. He completed the National Education Policy Fellowship Program hosted through the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics. He spent over 20 years as an Athletic Trainer for high schools and up through professional baseball and football. He serves as the Director of Professional Development and Strategic Planning at West-MEC. He is passionate about international education, spending time traveling to South America to provide training for teachers, as well as hosting many foreign students and teachers.

*IMPORTANT: If you have earned an ADE Certification for Classroom Management prior to April 1st, 2025, please be aware that a duplicate ADE Certification from the "Foundations of Classroom Management" course will not be accepted for CTE Certification purposes.* This foundational course is designed to equip emerging educators with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to develop a positive learning environment. Participants will explore various aspects of the education profession, including terminology, characteristics of professional conduct, and classroom management strategies. Through a detailed examination, participants will develop clear and enforceable rules that promote respect, responsibility, and safety. Participants will examine the role of consequences in shaping student behavior and promoting accountability while creating and implementing consistent procedures to streamline classroom activities and maximize instructional time.
