Serenity Gielau (M.A.Ed,) Born and raised in Arizona, she is a proud product of Mesa Public Schools; graduating from Westwood High School in 1995. She was immediately college bound attending ASU to receive her BA in 2000. After a couple years in the workforce, she decided to further her education at the University of Phoenix and graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2005. Throughout her career, Serenity has demonstrated a passion for building strong learning opportunities for students and teachers, constantly seeking out new challenges and opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills. She has held a variety of roles in education, including Teacher, Professional Learning Specialist, Gallup Strengths Coach and Instructional Coach. Each role has challenged her in new ways and allowed her opportunities to learn alongside a variety of talented educators. In her 24th year of education, she is currently the College & Career Readiness Director for Mesa Public Schools. In addition, she is a Certified Gallup Strengths Coach and just joined the Premier Series Family to offer valuable learning opportunities to CTE teachers across the state. Given the choice, Serenity’s free time is spent in the great outdoors with her family and friends; from the beach to the mountains, she loves it all!

Westin La Paloma

This a 2 day course: It is an introduction to the design and use of CTE curriculum. In this highly engaging course teachers will focus on the design and delivery of relevant and engaging lessons. Special emphasis is placed on active participation strategies, a strong introduction to each lesson, clear and appropriate objective(s), a variety of ways to meet the objective(s), and closure to assess learning. These strategies will be woven across the entire workshop. All participants whose districts are members of the AZ CTE Curriculum Consortium and who complete both days of this workshop will receive password-protected access to the Curriculum Connection with its 3500+ bank of outstanding lesson plans for more than 20 CTE programs written by Arizona CTE teachers. This course is excellent for every teacher. Ace your next evaluation! Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive an ADE certificate for 15 professional development clock hours which equates to one (1) semester hour of coursework.
